Robert Charles Hamilton, also known as “Bob the Builder” made his final journey home September 11th, 2020. He was 78 years old but lived a large life so when his time came, he was at peace saying he did everything he wanted to here. Bob’s most proud achievement in life was marrying his high school sweetheart, Sharon Schellinger, who supported him in all his glory during his heyday, and lovingly supported him physically through their last days together. They just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Bob graduated from McGraw high school in 1960 where he played all sports. After graduation, Bob went to work for Virg Harris Builders. By 1965, Bob started his own sheet rock business then began building homes which he did for 55 years. In 1988 Bob was President of the Home Builders Association of Tompkins and Cortland Counties. Bob also celebrated many awards selling Renn Fire Alarm Systems. Business man and owner of a 100 acre beef farm, he also worked as a Real Estate Broker for many years while building houses, raising beef and kids. He was a great protector of his 4 daughters, a good friend to many, and a good neighbor. You always knew where you stood with Bob Hamilton; his daughters call him a no-bullshit kind of guy. Bob died just like he lived; he wrote his own rules, he fought authority and he paved his own way. And if you said he couldn’t do it, he would make sure he could. Bob had a passion for hunting. He loved his family and friends. He also loved to tell a good story, which he did until the end! Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon, 4 daughters; Denise ( Steve) Hatch, Suzanne Wilson, Lori Hamilton, and Bobbi Hamilton, his grandchildren Nicholas DeMaio, Colton Wilson, Derek Wilson, Samantha Hatch, Lilly Hamilton his sister Sandy Carter, and niece and nephew, Cherri and Bob. Predeceased by Father, Tom Hamilton and Mother, Ruth Caldwell, brother- n -law, Charles Carter. Calling Hours at Perkins Funeral Home Saturday, September 19th from 2-4 pm.
