Robert “Bob” E. Vantine, age 65, formerly of Freeville, NY passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Robert Packer Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Heather Dominy of Cortland, NY; his son, Rob Vantine of Boynton Beach, FL; 2 grandsons, Erich (Blair Bell) and Brandon Marshall; sister-in-law, Donna Vantine; sister, Roberta Dawson; several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his father, Norman (2008); his mother, Barbara (2017); brother, Frank (2005) and nephew, Scott (2020).
Bob’s passion in life was his music. Bob started his band, Open Road, which opened for acts such as Little Jimmy Dickens, Jack Green, Ricky Van Shelton and many more. Bob was inducted into the New York State Country Music Hall of Honors in 2006 and the Hall of Fame in 2008 at the Cortland Country Music Park. Bob was also a lifetime member of the Etna Fire Department.
Per Bob’s request, there will be no services. A private burial in Peruville Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
