Roger J Armstrong

ROGER J. ARMSTRONG, age 85, of Cortland, NY died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY. Roger was born March 28, 1922 a son of the late Charles and Nellie Berean Armstrong. He lived in Dryden and attended Dryden High School before joining the US Army. In 1941 he was married to the former Elaine Tripp. Mrs. Armstrong passed away March 31, 1990. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his step-father, Frank I. Satterly, Jr.; his brothers, Charles, Lawrence, Robert and Harold Armstrong. Roger was retired from Koppers, Inc. where he had been a sales representative for more than 25 years. A gifted carpenter, Roger was a friend to many and a benefactor of the Cortland Regional Medical Center Nursing Program.

Survivors include his brothers, Donald (Ann) Armstrong, Sr,. of Ithaca, Richard (Sydney) Armstrong of Ormond Beach, FL and Frank I. (Pauline) Satterly, III of Groton; sisters, Shirley Scanlon of Port Orange, FL, Ruth Redmore of Holly Hill, FL and Doris Hathaway of Daytona Beach, FL; a close friend, Mary Ann Robinson. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

At Rogers request, graveside services will be held later in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. There are no calling hours. Perkins Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials are graciously directed to the Cortland Memorial Foundation, Nursing Scholarship, 134 N. Homer Ave., Cortland, NY 13045.
