Roger Lewis Morehouse
On Monday, March 22, 2021, Roger L. Morehouse, age 66, finished his battle with cancer and immediately was welcomed home by his Heavenly Father. As he drew his last breath, he was surrounded by his family.
Roger is survived by his wife of 22 years, Patricia McGory Morehouse at home; his oldest son, Adam (Stephanie) Morehouse, middle son, Aaron (Laura) Morehouse and youngest son, Nick (Stephanie) McGory. He was a beloved grandfather to three grandchildren, Anna, Rosie and Wyatt. In addition, he is survived by siblings, Marshall Morehouse, Leslie Morehouse, Jan Nielson, Jean Libbey and Faith Gordon. Roger was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Gertrude and siblings, John Morehouse and Judy Soule.
Roger was born at home, in Bakers Mills, NY, in the Adirondacks, the day before Thanksgiving, on November 24, 1954 to Eugene and Gertrude Marvin Morehouse. While He attended Marathon High School he was a member of the Future Farmers of America and played the clarinet in the High School band. The day after graduation in 1972, he left for boot camp with the US Marine Corp. He was honorably discharged in 1976. Roger has two Associate degrees from TC3 and was employed with CBORD Group in Ithaca. Roger was an active Cub and Boy Scout leader, reviving Troop 46 in Freeville. He was active with and Chairman of Cortland County Relay For Life for 10 years and was a prominent member of Crown City Toastmasters, holding several positions including Distinguished Toastmaster, Webmaster and Free Toast Host.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, March 26, 2021 at Perkins Funeral Home, with Pastor Dave Carter officiating. Private interment will be held in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends may call from 2-5 pm, Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the funeral home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden. Masks and social distancing will be required. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cortland County Relay For Life, at RelayForLife.org/emcsupport
