RONALD D. PIERCE aka R.P., age 67, of Portzline Rd., Dryden, NY passed away at the Cayuga Medical Center, in Ithaca, on Thursday, October 13, 2011 after becoming ill at home. “Ron” was born Nov. 10, 1943 in Endicott, NY a son of the late Charles and Beulah Bidwell Pierce. A life resident of Dryden, he attended Dryden Schools and was employed as a carpenter for various builders and individuals. Ron is survived by his son, Daniel R. (Lorraine) Pierce of Ithaca, his siblings, Donald (Nell) Robinson of Hendersonville, NC, Janet (Barney) Neff of Punta Gorda, FL, Dorothy Messenger of Ithaca, Amanda Bidwell of FL and Dawn (William) Boothby of Clearwater, FL; a brother-in-law, Ernest Morrissey; a close friend, Hank Tarr; his former wife, Brenda Babcock Hollenbeck; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Marjorie Morrissey. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Austin officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden on Tuesday after 2:30 PM until service time. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make a contribution to a charity of their own choice.
