Ronald L Sweet

RONALD L. SWEET , Jr., age 58, of Rt. 221, Harford, NY died Friday, Dec. 28, 2007. Ron was born May 7, 1949 at Cortland a son of Evelyn Barber Sweet of Cortland and the late Ronald L. Sweet, Sr. Ron was raised and attended school in Homer and enlisted in the US Navy where he served on aircraft carriers, USS Sierra and USS Forrestal. He was employed at Cornell University Teaching and Research Center in Harford for 31 years retiring in 2004. Ron was a member of the Harford Fire Company. Recently he was employed by Beck Farms in McLean. Ron enjoyed working with draft horses, NASCAR and Microd Racing.

Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Sweet of Cortland; his wife, Robin Russell Sweet of Harford, his daughter, Jodie (Kenneth) Bush of Cortland and; his step-daughter, Katrina (James) Starks of Harford; a step-son, Christopher (Connie Muzzy) Lacey of Groton; grandchildren, James Starks, Jr., Dominic Lacey and Ceanna Lacey; two sisters, Sharon Lanphear and Barbara (Jerry) Rood; a brother, Charles (Carol) Sweet; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Freeman and Rev. Dave Coy officiating. Burial will be private in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 6 to 9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
