Roy Clair Brown

Roy Clair Brown, Sr., age 72, of Sheldon Road, Freeville, NY passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his home.
Born November 15, 1943 in Ithaca, NY he was the son of the late Alford H. and Mable Brown. He attended South Seneca High School and enlisted in the US Army in 1961. He was honorably discharged in 1964. Roy was a mail carrier with the Ithaca Post Office prior to his retirement. He was a life member of the Interlaken Sportsman's Club and South Seneca Sportsman's Club and a 48 year member of the Ovid American Legion Post #463. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader, football coach and baseball coach, but most importantly he was a proud grandpa.
Roy is survived by his companion of 36 years, Karen King-Cooper at home, his daughter, Diane Ferretti of Ithaca, NY; sons, Roy C. (Stephanie) Brown, Jr. of Freeville, NY and Robert (fiancé` Lacey Hulslander) Brown of Dryden, NY; six grandchildren to Papa, Joshua Banks, Tanesha Ferretti, Mackenzie Chase, Kendra Chase, Isabella Brown and Elliana Brown; great grandson, Hayden Shevchenko; sisters, Sandra Brown, Duree Evans and Delorus Moon and several nieces and nephews. In addition, he was predeceased by his brothers, Henry Brown and Herbert Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Wheat officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Charles Mulks Cemetery, Slaterville Springs, NY. Friends may call from 4-6 pm, Wednesday evening, July 27, 2016 at the funeral home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ovid American Legion Post #463, 2083 W. Seneca St., Ovid, NY 14521.
