Rudolph "Rudy" Whitted

RUDOLPH WHITTED, age 85, of Whitted Drive, Newfield, NY passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at home after a brief illness. "Rudy" was born in Ithaca on Nov. 27, 1931 a son of the late Adolph and Gladys Cornell Whitted. On July 15, 1952 he was married to Virginia Newhart who survives. Rudy was employed for 42 years as a machine operator and later served as the caretaker of Pleasant Grove Cemetery. He enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren and family members and was a self taught "Mr. Fixit".
Survivors include his loving wife, Virginia at home and a son, Kenneth (Kathy) Whitted; siblings, John (Katie) Whitted, Carl Whitted, Madelyn (Dan) Hopkins and Steve (Ann) Whitted; grandchildren, Eilene, Amanda Russell, Angela, Taylor, Crystal, Kianna, Keion, Michelle, Amanda and Mona. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Douglas Whitted and siblings, Clyde, Edward, Gordon, Gloria, Eva, Paul and Donald.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Dean officiating. Burial will be private. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 6 PM Friday at the funeral home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden. Memorial gifts for his family and given in his name may be sent to the funeral home.
