Mrs. Kimmich was born February 10, 1918 in University Place, NE, a daughter of the late Chancy G. and Clara Allen Kurtz. She moved to Harford with her family in 1928.On August 1, 1942 she was married to Leslie Kimmich in the Harford Methodist Church. Leslie preceded her in death in July 2006. She is survived by her five children: Elaine Kimmich of Horsham, PA; Vivian Haines (Bob) of Coatesville, PA; Lloyd Kimmich (Diane) of Dryden, NY; Kay Kimmich (Laura) of Brooktondale, NY; and Steven Kimmich (Tammie) of Newfield, PA. and her seven grandchildren: Michael Kimmich (Theresa) of Seattle, WA; Peter Kimmich of Dryden, NY; Thomas Kimmich of Dryden, NY; Bobbi Jo Kimmich of New York City; Mary Garin (Scott) of Ithaca, NY; Patrick Kimmich of Ithaca, NY; and Steven Stroud of Philadelphia, PA; and her four great-grandchildren: Brin, Eve, and Raya Kimmich and Quincy Garin. She is also survived by her sisters, Olive Price of Gaithersburg, MD, Lela Campbell of Vinton, IA, and Ellen Johnson of Binghamton, NY and brother, Earl Kurtz of Marathon, NY; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Florence Cornelius, and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kimmich and Evelyn Kimmich, and brothers-in-law, Charles Price and John Kimmich.
She was an active member of the Dryden United Methodist Church for over 50 years; an original member of the My Brothers’ Keeper Quilting Group; the Dryden Literary Club; and a 4-H Club leader for many years. She graduated from Marathon High School in 1935 and from the Binghamton General Hospital School of Nursing in 1940 where she worked as a registered nurse for a year before working at Cortland Hospital until 1942. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, cooking, and watching game shows.
Friends may call at Perkins Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 29 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, May 30, 2013, at the United Methodist Church of Dryden with Rev. Richard Sivers officiating followed by interment at Virgil Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends are urged to make a donation in her memory to the Dryden United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 193, Dryden, NY 13053-0193 or to a charity of their choice.
