Sally (Cooley) Norcross

Sally (Cooley) Norcross, 92, passed away Saturday June 10, 2023. Sally was born in Ware, Mass. May 3rd 1931, the daughter of Leslie and Jennie Belle Cooley. She grew up in Dana and later Petersham Mass. Where she met and married Neil Norcross in 1952. They had two children Tammy (Sarah) Osmeloski (Joe Osmeloski) and Neil Norcross Jr. (Rachel Bergman).

After a brief time spent living on Long Island Sally and Neil moved to Ithaca and settled in Ellis Hollow. Sally became active in the Ellis Hollow community. She was involved with the Ellis Hollow Skiers, as well as various other activities in the Hollow for many years.  An avid quilter, Sally helped design and quilt many of the famous Ellis Hollow Quilts that were raffled off at the annual Ellis Hollow Fair. In addition to quilting, she was talented in many crafts and especially liked sewing. She always had a project she was working on.

Sally liked to ski in the winter, and she played in the Cornell Women’s golf league for many years. Sally also owned a beach cottage in Amagansett, on Long Island where she enjoyed summer vacations with family and friends.

After Neil retired from The Veterinary College at Cornell in 1994, they traveled extensively to various parts of the world. Sally enjoyed these excursions, collecting flags and memorabilia from the places she visited.

Sally had been residing at Brookdale Ithaca since Neil’s passing in 2021. On June 10th she went to be with him. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
