Sarah Marie (Stilwell) Dovi

Sarah Marie (Stilwell) Dovi, 41, went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2024.  She lived in Dryden and Virgil, NY over the last nineteen years with her husband Jesse Dovi and their three children Victory, Autumn, and Judah.  Born in North Tonawanda, NY on August 9, 1983, Sarah moved to Webster, NY in 10th grade.  She attended college at Binghamton University and the University of Buffalo, where she obtained a master’s degree in library science.  She is survived by her mother Ruthann Stilwell, her father Michael Richard Stilwell, and her grandmother Marian Ruth Stilwell.

Upon moving to Dryden, she served as librarian of the Southworth Library until the birth of her first child, when she left professional work to raise a family full time.  She homeschooled her children and was always involved in non-profit organizations, including the Southworth Friends of the Library book sale, MOPS, LEAH, the 1890 House Museum, a cancer support group, and more.  She also helped Jesse Dovi and Lucas Dovi with the purchase and operation of Crown CIty Cinemas in Cortland, NY.

Driven by her deep passion for women and motherhood, she most recently served on the board of Fingerlakes Pregnancy Care, where she employed her well-developed leadership skills.  In spite of her cancer diagnosis in 2022, she continued to serve and took on the responsibility of board chair.

Calling hours will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Grace Christian Fellowship, Fisher Ave., Cortland with Cliff Ostrander officiating. A family only burial will be held at Virgil Rural Cemetery.
