Shirley A Brecht

SHIRLEY A. BRECHT, age 71, of Beam Hill Road, Dryden, NY passed away Monday, June 16th, 2008 at University Hospital after a short illness. Shirley was born November 24, 1936 at Ithaca, NY a daughter of the late Carl J. and Teresa Foote Haskins. She was graduated from Ithaca High School in 1954. Her husband, Herbert A. Brecht. passed away February 18, 2006. Years ago the Brecht’s lived on Slaterville Road and later were residents of Dryden for 45 years where they operated a service station and towing business. She was a member of the Home Bureau and years ago was involved with her children in Cub Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. Shirley was employed at Wal-Mart as a greeter and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Jane (David) Pealo of Ithaca, Linda (Mike) Moore of Groton and Bruce (Brenda) Brecht of Dryden; grandchildren, Brandy (Harold) Lobdell, Robert (Michelle) Pealo, Jared and Amy Moore, Austin and Emilee Brecht; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Amber, Tiffany and Harold Lobdell, Jr.; a brother, Carl J. Haskins of Delaware; sisters, Mary Lou (Carl) Taylor of Dryden and Carol (Ralph) Lovelace of Trumansburg; an aunt, Alberta Foote of Mecklenburg. Sisters-in-law, Marie and Deborah Haskins also survive. In addition to her husband, Herb, Shirley was predeceased by her siblings, Robert, Walter and James Haskins and Wanda M. Nixon.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, June 19th, at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. David H. Nicholls officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
