Shirley Irene Knapp

Miss Shirley Knapp, age 94, of Port Watson St., Cortland, NY went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Cortland Guthrie Medical Center.
Born April 11. 1924 in Little York, NY she was the daughter of the late Fenton and Floy Phillips Knapp. She was educated at Homer Academy, graduating in 1940, at Cortland Normal School (one year), and at Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, NY, graduating in 1944. Most of her working life was spent as a district clerk of the Homer Central School District, from which she retired January 4, 1986. Shirley was active, for most of her adult life, as a member of, and participant in the programs of the Bible Baptist Church of Cortland, NY.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is predeceased by both of her brothers, Norton Knapp of San Diego, CA and Norman Knapp of Little York, NY and her niece, Connie Knapp Venditti of San Diego, CA. Shirley is survived by her sister in law, Sally Knapp of Little York, NY; niece, Judith (Stan) Wnuk of Little York, NY; nephews, Norton (Terry) Knapp, Jr. of Woodbridge, VA and Brian (Rebecca) Knapp of Alexandria, VA; several great and great great nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Bible Baptist Church, 15 West Road, Cortland, NY with Pastor Steve Barton officiating. Friends are invited to greet the family following the service at the church. Private burial will be in the spring in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Mission Fund of the Bible Baptist Church.
