Sonya Van Sluis

On November 30, 2022, Sonya Van Sluis returned to her heavenly home.  She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Sonya was born on April 29, 1926.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.  She was born in Soerabaja, Indonesia then migrated to the Netherlands,  but ultimately immigrated to the United States to seek more opportunities for her family.  She was married to Adrian Van Sluis on October 12, 1948.  They had six children together.  She had a love and talent for painting landscapes and floral designs.  She enjoyed Indo food and being with her family.  She would love to share with anyone and everyone “The Knuckle Prayer: I love you Lord, I need you Lord, I trust you Lord, I thank you Lord. After her husband passed away, she spent her final years in Upstate New York where was loved and cared for by her eldest daughter, Mona.

Sonya was blessed with a large and loving family.  She is survived by her sons Robert (Gail), Jeffrey (Sharon) and David (Priscilla); her daughters Mona (Frank) and Nancy and many grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Adrian; and her son, Fernand.
