STANLEY CROSS, age 80, of NYS Rt. 221, Harford, NY passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 at his residence. Stan was born July 11, 1931 at Cortland, NY a son of the late Paul an Inez Oliver Cross. Stan served in the US Marine Corps in Korea and after returning home he was employed by Lane Construction as a foreman. Later he began dairy farming in Harford with his wife, the former Lois Short, to whom he was married on Jan. 22, 1960. In the 1970’s they developed Cross’s Cozy Corner Trailer Park in Harford. Stan also began Cross Excavation and Auger Service and worked until being forced to retire in 2000 due to ill health.

He had served on the Harford Town Board and was a member and former trustee of Harmony United Methodist Church. Additionally he had been a Commissioner of the Harford Fire District. Stan was a hard working man and was devoted to his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Lois at home, his children, Bill Highfield (Leeann), Dexter (Tammy), Daryl (Melinda), Tracy (Michelle); grandchildren, Benjamin, Kate (Rob White) Bradley, Kimberly, Jereme, Derek and Devin; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Liam, Alexis, Kyle; a former daughter-in-law, Dottie Highfield; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Stuart and Jo Cross.

At Stan’s request private services will be held. Burial will be in Virgil Rural Cemetery, Virgil, NY. There are no calling hours. Memorials are directed to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech Street, Johnson City, NY 13790. Perkins Funeral Home assisted the family. www.perkinsfuneralhome.com
