Steven lived his life loving the land and his farm. More than half his
waking moments he could be found doing something to take care of his
faithful cows, pampering his chickens, and cutting firewood on the hill at his farm. Steven lived life on his own terms and through 21 years of
marriage I learned there were 3 ways of doing things: The Right way, The Wrong way, and Steven's way! He was the most loving, caring, dedicated husband one could ever have. Steven's most valued love of his life was Valarie(Val). He was a no frills Dad that instilled his love of the land and his strong beliefs and values. Steven was so proud of her and you could never have a conversation with him without hearing about all of Valarie's accomplishments. In the stands of her soccer games if you were anywhere near Steven you were sure to know who his daughter was and that she was #13. Steven loved his family and family gatherings would find Steven on the sidelines sitting and giggling over the conversations that were being had at the dinner table. He was always grateful to his parents for giving him the love for the land and for teaching him to love farming.
Steven loved to read, there was not a book written by Louis L'amour that he has not read two or three times. He also loved to play cards, after a hard day of work he loved playing cards with best friends Larry & Diane Michaud and family, he always had his stack of quarters readily at hand. They even taught me to play pitch, not an easy task. Steven loved his work at NVCS as a bus driver and in other depts. He treasured his bus route and the students he transported, I am sure he will be remembered as a driver who made you follow the rules. The school can now retire bus #183 without protest from Steven. Steven took much pride in having served in the US Navy as a yeoman 3rd class on several different submarines.
Steven's passion for riding motorcycles was a large part of what made him so happy. Not much made him happier than to be riding with his many motorcycle buddies on his Moto Guzzi. He felt so free and unburdened when he was riding his prized possession and in the end, he left us riding something that gave him so much joy and peace.
Valarie, I and his family would like to thank everyone for their help and
hard work with the farm and just overwhelming support and well wishes. We would like to extend a tremendous thank you to Berkshire Fire Dept. and EMS, Berkshire EMS Inc., Guthrie One Life Flight, All the Staff and Doctors at UHS/Wilson Hospital ER - ICU - ST5 for the kindness and consideration of Steven's Loved ones and for the passionate care of Steven they extended to us after the accident.
