THOMAS "BUTCH" WOODIN, a resident of Cedar Run at the Cortland Memorial Nursing Facility and formerly of Dryden, passed away February 19th at the age of 63. He was born in Ithaca on May 30, 1943 a son of the late Thomas E. and Hazel Rumsey Woodin. Butch was graduated from Ithaca High School in 1961. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Irene (John) Gordiner; his step-father Bob Corrington and his step-mother, Pauline Woodin. He was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Dryden. Tom spent most of his early years working for Dean of Ithaca, Mayflower Moving Company as a mover/truck driver eventually becoming Vice President of the company. He was happy to have worked for such celebrities as Carl Sagan and The Twilight Zone creator and narrator, Rod Serling, but happiest during the trip when he took his young son with him and stopped at the Washington Zoo. Tom spent many years on the road to provide for his family but was later resigned to a wheelchair due to progressive Multiple Sclerosis which left him without the use of his limbs. Despite these unfortunate circumstances and frequent health related problems, Tom kept a positive outlook to the end.

Tom is survived by his son, Shane (Lisa) Woodin of Dryden; his daughter, Shannan (Steven) Hammond of Cortland; six grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Douglas of Dryden; a brother, Bobby Woodin living in Florida and several nieces; nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, Feb. 23rd, 2007 at The First Presbyterian Church of Dryden with Rev. David C. Robinson officiating. Burial will be private. Tom’s family will be present to receive their friends in the fellowship hall of the church for one hour prior to the funeral. Memorials are graciously directed to The First Presbyterian Church of Dryden, P.O. Box 42, Dryden, NY 13053-0042. Perkins Funeral Home assisted the family.
