Vera Mary Slater,
age 92, of 35 West Main St., Dryden, NY passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Cortland Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Vera was born January 1, 1918 in Waterloo, NY a daughter of the late John and Katherine Whetzel Larson. She was employed for many years at Smith Corona and was married to Willis “Bill” Slater who died Sept. 8, 1990.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Slater Gans, 1164 Santolina Drive, Novato, California and Anna Slater McCarthy, 51 Strong St., Hicksville, New York; a Betty Nye of Locke; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; nieces and nephews including Henry (Eileen) Slater of Dryden. She was predeceased by a sister, Beverly Durbin.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Kinney officiating. Burial, delayed until spring, will be in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 6 PM, Friday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden. Memorials, may be made to the Dryden Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 397, Dryden, NY 13053-0397.
