Violet E. Armstrong

ITHACA - Violet E. Welser Armstrong, age 87, of Ithaca, NY passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Beechtree Care Center.
Born August 20, 1929 in Etna, NY she was the daughter of the late Edward and Evalyn Tripp Welser and wife of the late Duane E. Armstrong who died in 2011.
Violet had been employed with the Telephone Company in Dryden, NY and then Cornell University as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Dryden Grange, the Moose and Eagles Auxiliary's.
Violet is survived by her children, Ray Miles of Ithaca, NY, Richard Miles of Tamps, FL, Donna (Roger) Bogart of Lake Wales, FL, Michael (Deanna) Miles of Widefield, CO, Nadine (James) O'Dell of Newfield, NY and John (Rae) Miles of Locke, NY; step-children, Wayne (Mary) Armstrong of Freeville, NY, Anthony (Cathy) Armstrong of Franklinville, NY and Wallace (Heather) Armstrong of Richford, NY; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; brother, Edward Ernest (Mary) Welser of Maine, NY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, George and Harold Welser.
Private graveside services with interment will be held at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden, NY at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Tompkins Co. SPCA, 1640 Hanshaw Road, Ithaca, NY 14850.
