Violet Frances (Allen) Payne

Violet F. Payne, 92 of Berkshire, NY passed away at home; and as the angels lifted her on high, our dear mother went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Violet was born December 22, 1929 and celebrated her birthday every year on May 10th.  She was the daughter of the late Webster and Frances Kingsbury Allen. She was a graduate of the Marathon School. On December 27, 1947 she married Franklin Payne and following marriage she worked side by side on the family farm with him for many many years. Violet also worked at the Edward R. Eastman School in Berkshire. She volunteered and served as President of the Berkshire Library. She took great pride in helping her sons, “Payne” at the racetrack and Joel at the wood factory.

Violet was predeceased by her parents, husband, Franklin P. Payne, grandson, Jason Payne, brothers, Bruce and Gary Allen, sisters, Gloria, Daisy and Rosemary. Violet is survived by her children, Nancy (David) Pepin, Franklin (Audrey) Payne, Joel (Nancy) Payne and Bonnielyn (Terry) Jones; her grandchildren, which she adored, Heather and Andrew Payne, Tiffany Payne and Ashley (Chadwick) O’Connor. She is also survived by her nine great grandchildren, and was fondly known as “Nana,” Hayley and Alice Payne, Faith and Brenton Payne, Joshua, Alicia, Reed, Autumn and Bristol O’Connor; her sisters, Donna Canfield and Joyce Payne, brother, Larry Allen and a host of nieces and nephews.

As per her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Berkshire.
