W. Harvey Starr

W. HARVEY STARR , age 85, of 41 Buffalo Road, Slaterville Springs, NY died Saturday, April 9, 2004 at the Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca, NY. Mr. Starr was born March 3, 1920 at Danbury, CT the only child of William Harvey Starr and Louise Ziegler Starr. He was raised on a dairy farm in Connecticut, moving to Harford, NY when he was 18 years old. Harvey farmed there until 1948 when he relocated to Slaterville Springs. He was married to the former Florence Armstrong on July 16, 1941 at Newark Valley. He was employed at Ithaca Gun Co. for more than 30 years and later was employed at Ithaca City Schools. Harvey was a tireless member of the Slaterville Vol. Fire Company. He was an avid reader and a kind, down to earth man who was always helping others.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Florence Starr of Slaterville Springs, his daughter, Florie (Neb) Hage of Homer, NY; his son, Harvey (Ginny) Starr of Slaterville Springs; grandchildren, Laurie Starr of Trumansburg, Dr. John (Juliana) Hage of Marina, CA, Terri Starr of San Diego, CA, Jason Hage of Homer and Julee Starr of Slaterville Springs.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Kubinski of Holy Cross Church officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Richford, NY. Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
