Wayne Sumner Lyon
of 113 Ferris Place, Ithaca, died March 18, 2010 at home in Ithaca.
He was born December 25, 1911 on Spring Hill, PA. Wayne was the son of George Martin Lyon and Nellie Tice Lyon. He graduated from Wyalusing PA High School and Temple University, Philadelphia, PA with a BS in Commerce. Wayne was an employee of New York State Electric and Gas Corp. for over 43 years. He retired in 1976 as head of the statistical department. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 64 years and an Elder for over 25.
He volunteered for 30 years counting the weekly offerings of the church. He was the treasurer and a member of the finance committee of the Girl Scouts of Tiotmca Council of Ithaca for 6 years. Wayne was also active in retirement with the Senior Volunteer Program with Income Tax Counseling (RSVP), Meals on Wheels and with FISH.
Wayne was married to Alice Louise Lee, June 29, 1940 in her family's home in Wyalusing, PA. They would have been married 70 years in June. He is also survived by 4 children, W. Eric (Eileen) of Ithaca; Diane Lee (Yuri) of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Mark Sumner (Anne) of Monson, MA; and Kirk Allen of Penn Yan, NY. Wayne was also survived by 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother Arden Tice Lyon of Geneva, NY.

There will be a private funeral service. Interment will be at the Wyalusing, PA cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Challenge Industries Inc., 950 Danby Rd., Suite #179, Ithaca, NY 14850 or a charity of one's choice.
