WESLEY W. PENDELL,
age 77, formerly of Fall Creek Road, Freeville, NY died Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at The Reconstruction Home, Ithaca, NY after a lengthy illness. "Wes" was born November 20, 1927 at Ithaca a son of the late Wesley P. and Carrie "Polly"Seeley Pendell. Wes served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II and was married to the former Shirley Ann Haycook on Dec. 18, 1948 at Ludlowville. He was employed for many years at Cornell University in the General Stores. He also operated Fall Creek Lawn Equipment for many years. He served for several years with the Freeville Police Department as a Patrolman and also was active in the Tompkins County Civil Defense Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Dryden; his son, Thomas W. (Dolores) Pendell of Freeville; his grandchildren, Mark W. Pendell of Harpers Ferry, WV, Julie A. (Michael) Lewis of Woburn, MA and Robert Carson of Denver, CO; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Sherry Pendell Carson died April 19, 1992, his mother and step-father, Carrie "Polly" and Gordon "Hap" Haskin and his aunt and uncle, Floyd and Pauline Knox at whose home Wes spent much of his early years.
Friends are invited to call from 12 to 2 PM Monday, August 22, 2005 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Burial and graveside services will follow at Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden with Rev. Dale Austin officiating. Those wishing to remember Wes are asked to make a memorial, in lieu of flowers, to The Reconstruction Home, 318 So. Albany St., Ithaca, NY 14850.
