William L. Hall

WILLIAM L. HALL, age 84, of 131 Compton Road, Ithaca, NY passed away Friday, February 4, 2005 at the Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca. Mr. Hall was born April 16, 1920 at Danby, NY a son of the late William B. and Doris Heath Hall. On August 29, 1941 he was married to the former Alethea Couch at Etna, NY. Bill was employed at Cornell University in the Carpenter Shop where he was shop foreman for many years until retiring in 1983. He was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Ithaca, Ithaca Post #221, American Legion and the Carpenters Union Local #603. He was a proud member of VBOB, Veterans of The Battle of The Bulge. Mr. Hall was an Assistant Scout Master to Troop 49 in Danby for many years. He loved camping, fishing and hunting but preferred to spend time with his family. Bill was a thoughtful man and a great teacher to his sons and friends. He was very much loved and will be greatly missed. He made clocks for many of his family members to cherish.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Alethea C. Hall of Ithaca; his sons, Donald W. (Martha) Hall of Lake Worth, FL, William B. (Jean) Hall of Danby, Frank V. (Filomena) Hall of Ithaca, Peter A. (Sally) Hall of Orrville, OH; a sister, Marian M. Hall of Ithaca; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Doris L. and George W. Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, February 7, 2005 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Dr. James R. Henery of The First Presbyterian Church of Ithaca officiating. Burial, delayed until spring will be in Caroline Grove Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 12 to 2 PM Monday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden.
