William Morgan Mix

WILLIAM MORGAN MIX, age 98, who died Monday, March 7th, 2016 at home of "too many birthdays", was born to Norman and Ida Shaw Mix on August 13, 1917 in Caroline, NY where he resided his entire life. He attended Ithaca and Newark Valley Schools and owed and operated a dairy farm on Slaterville Road in Caroline. Bill served his community in several organizations including the Dairyman's League, and as a director of the former Caroline Farmers Insurance Company. Bill was a Fire Warden for the NYS Department of Conservation as well as being the Sexton of Caroline Grove Cemetery for 34 years.
He lived a very healthy and contented life. Bill will always be appreciated for his straight and true moral compass, the attributes he had of truthfulness, honesty, fidelity, selflessness and hard work. He never compromised his standards but kept these moral values, not because of any religious teachings or beliefs, but because he was a truly good man. He was faithful to his wife, children, friends and community. He married the former Prudence Lorraine Hotaling on May 4, 1944 in Caroline. She predeceased him on October 23, 2000.
Bill is survived by his children, Barbara (Wilson) Kone of Caroline, Jeanette J. (Gilbert) Tinney of Mayfield, NY, Diane D. (Roy) Moore of Lansing, Matthew M. (Kathy) Mix of Caroline and Nelson N. (Judy) Mix of Washington, DC; a sister, Ina Mix of Caroline and a brother, Lawrence D. (Dorothy) Mix of Caroline; 26 grandchildren; numerous great and great great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, an infant brother, Clarence Mix; a sister, Dorothy Mix; grandchildren, Heather Kone Arsenault and Zedakiah Tinney.
Friends are invited to call from 4 to 6 PM, Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main Street, Dryden, NY. Committal services will held in the Caroline Grove Cemetery at 11 AM on Saturday, March 12th.
