WILLIAM CARLTON WASHBURN,
age 96, formerly of Dryden, NY passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008 at Northwoods of Cortland. Mr. Washburn was born March 29, 1912 at De Peyster, St. Lawrence County, NY a son of the late Franklin and Jean Stewart Washburn. "Bill" lived in Etna, NY during his early years and relocated with his parents to a farm on Dutcher Road where he lived and worked with his father for many years. Late he moved to Mott Road and eventually to Willowbrook Manor both in Dryden. He was employed for a time by Cornell University College of Agriculture. He was a member of the Dryden Senior Citizens and enjoyed bowling and being in the out of doors.
Survivors include his brother, Kenneth Washburn of Poughkeepsie and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Orlin, Gordan, and Harris.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Kinney officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends may call from 1 to 2 PM Wednesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. www.perkinsfuneralhome.com
